[edit] Frequently ask questions on Mtb Station

[edit] What is Connect to Decode Project

It is one of the major initiatives of OSDD to understand Mtb organism in order to develop better drugs/vaccines against tuberculosis See C2D site for detail.

[edit] What is Mtb Station project

Aim of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Structural Annotation (Mtb Station) project is to annotate all protein of Mtb from structural point of view. In simple words, our connect to decode (C2D) team "Protein Structure/Fold Annotation" will collect and compile structure of each Mtb proteins (around 4000), in order to provide comprehensive structural information about each protein of Mtb.

[edit] Who are participating in this project

Mostly students are participating (around 200). few faculty members and coordinators.

[edit] What we wants to achieve

Under this project we wish to annotate whole Mtb genome from structural point of view. At end of the day we should have predicted and experimentally determined structure of all Mtb proteins from single point.

[edit] How to contribute to Mtb Station project

Participants will create and maintain pages on DrugPedia for each ORF of all proteins. A page on a ORF will provide comprehensive information related to structure.

[edit] Why DrugPedia selected for storing output of project

It is easy and allow anybody to participate and contribute in project.

[edit] Whether participants will work in group or as individual

Its up to participants whether they wants to work in group or as individual. a group should not contain more than 4 participants.

[edit] What about credit system

Fortunately, drugpedia maintain history of edit of a page so its not difficult to jude contribution.

[edit] Who will monitor content of pages

Group or person responsible to maintain a page for a ORF annotation will be responsible to monitor whether changes are acceptable. In addition faculty and coordinators will also monitor contents of pages.

[edit] Who will provide model annotation

Mainly faculty and coordinators will provide model for a ORF. Participants are also welcome to contribute.

[edit] How participants will learn from this programmee

Guidelines on Mtb station will provide information on how to contribute and how to learn various tools to achieve the goal.

[edit] Is it a one-way traffic for learning

This model is not one way traffic of learning, I mean teacher to student. Instaed it is two way trafic where student will share their knowledge with everyone. In simple world everyone will contribute .

[edit] Will it lead to a research paper

This will be one of the goal to publish a paper based on knowledge generate during this project.

[edit] Is it a perfect model for this project

This is not perfect system, but at present we feel this is possible best system for this project.

[edit] Request for more questions

We need more and more question from our participants in order to understand problem of users.
