Strong inhibitor of fluid secretion by the Malpighian tubules. Uses cGMP as a second messenger and inhibits fluid production by decreasing cAMP concentration. Reduces isosmotic fluid secretion by inhibiting electroneutral and non-conductive transport pathways. Reverses the stimulatory effect of diuretic hormone I
