A neurotoxic drug is a substance proven or otherwise thought to cause the disruption or permanent alteration of normal brain activity through observable physical damage.
Neurotoxicants
Drugs may include, but are not limited to:
- Alcohol
- Antidepressants
- Amphetamines
- Barbiturates — Much of neurotoxicity research centers around hypoxia related to barbiturates used during anesthesia
- DXM (Dextromethorphan) Neurotoxicity suspected after being injected directly into the bloodstream, damage has never been documented in humans.
- PCP (Phencyclidine) -Damage has never been documented in humans.
- Ketamine -Damage has never been documented in humans.
- Nitrous oxide -Damage has never been documented in humans.
- Aspartame
- MPTP
- Cocaine
