The Nordic Patent Institute is a patent authority established by the governments of Denmark, Iceland and Norway. The Institute:

  • acts as PCT authority for residents of member countries
  • provides business services in the patent field
  • provides contract work in the patent field

Our Mission Statement:

"The Nordic Patent Institute shall supply international patenting and information services in close cooperation with the participating national patent offices in order to stimulate innovation in the contracting states".


PCT Services

The Nordic Patent Institute acts as International Searching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) for any international application filed with the Receiving Office of Denmark, Iceland and Norway.

ISO certification

The Nordic Patent Institute has a quality management system based on ISO standards, and uses only ISO certified contractors. Both the Danish and the Norwegian national patent offices meet these requirements.
